Once you have installed Battlefield Vietnam and updated it to Version 1.21, you will need to either change your DNS or your hosts file so that the gamespy points towards QTracker.I recently wanted to play this on multiplayer and set up a dedicated server for it, but when connecting to the server the game crashes.I used to play whole rounds just cruising round in a jeep with the radio on.
I was always quite kamikaze with my Huey whilst blasting The Kinks. BFV was the best Upcoming BF1 looks promising but I doubt anything will ever be as good as BFV. I was in Vietnam recently and was reminded about the terrible toll the war had on the Vietnamese, who have to be one of the lovliest and most friendly people there are. Their struggles for unity as a nation, which lasted for hundreds of years, were overcome through extreme resilience and bravery and hardship. Anyone who has been to the war museum on Ho Chi Minh city could not fail to be moved by the horror of modern warfare inflicted on an under-resourced populace, who nevertheless prevailed. The storyline portrayed there is very one-sided and propagandist from a communist perspective. Some of the texts were borderline hilarious the way they described their point of view. There is this, but if you look behind the rhetoric and consider the tremendous depravation and suffering the Vietnamese went through - well that is both heart-breaking and sobering. Look at the visitors who are Vietnamese, they are typically deeply moved, lots of them are in tears, because most people will have parents or grandparents who directly suffered, and badly. So no, there is no good reason to support that immoral act by playing a game. Its not censorship, it is sensitivity and humanity; I am against the trivialisation of the Vietnamese war. I find it a sad situation that millions of Vietnamese are still oppressed by an ideology they do not agree with several decades after the conflict. Anyway this debate doesnt help one bit in getting the multiplayer server working so I suggest you stop derailing this thread with unnecessary statements. Make sure the no-cd version is the same as your client version 1.2 or 1.21. Jokerss no-cd mod seems to work. I have BFV 1.21 installed client side (Windows) with working NOCD patch. Every time I try to connect I get the loading screen with the (connecting to IP:15567) message, and then nothing happens. PS: I tried to connect to the server you mentioned but BFV cant seem to connect to it. You need to patch it up to use a P2P type network now, may be similar for BF:V.
